He is much the same
By: Penny |The gazetta swears that Inzaghi was “celebrating in the tribune” when Milan won on Sunday but if he was, he wasn’t featured in the coverage I saw. There was, however, a very quick shot of Alessandro Nesta in an outfit which raises the central enigma of calcio, how do they get away with wearing v neck sweaters? Read the rest of this entry »

Inzaghi and his adductor muscle
By: Penny |Milan’s run out during the international break, a friendly against Lugano has ended in disaster for our hero. He was last seen limping off the pitch, grabbing the inside of his thigh in a very undignified manner after 17 sensational minutes. It’s unlikely that he’ll be fit for the weekend’s game against Genoa, I suppose that we have to expect bits to start falling off now he’s 35 but it would be nice if we could get some way into the season.
Perhaps the money helps
By: Penny |Lazio haven’t been able to force their unwanted players, including Simone Inzaghi, into asking for transfers before the end of the window, so it appears that they have told them that they will be training with the first team from now on. Read the rest of this entry »
The end of the affair
By: Penny |So, it seems pretty likely that we have seen the last of Inzaghi’s international appearances. He never seems to have been a particular favourite of Lippi’s, who only selected him for the World Cup in 2006 because the Brazilian manager embarrassed him into it. But even if he were, any forward looking manager would have to think twice before picking a player who will be 37 by the time South Africa comes around. Read the rest of this entry »
So, back then,
By: Penny |and with my optimism reinforced by a maniacally positive interview by Inzaghi in the gazetta (Milan will win the scudetto, the UEFA Cup and the Marathon des Sables, backwards, and the whole dressing room is ecstatic at the return of Sheva) I sat down to enjoy the game against Bologna. (Spoiler in rest of article) Read the rest of this entry »
In Vacanza
By: Penny |Apparently Inzaghi should be back for the game against Juve which is on the 17th as he is starting a special training programme tomorrow. Hopefully he will be back before I am, I’m away travelling for three weeks, with not much likelihood of internet access, but I’ll be back for the beginning of the season. Forza Milan and Forza Pippo.
Gammy leg updates
By: Penny |Good news on Inzaghi, in as much as his leg doesn’t look that serious, he should be back playing by the 17th of August.
Not so good about Borriello, unfortunately. Prof Martens is going to operate on his knee and he should be out for two months. This leaves Milan with problems up front to say the least. They have stopped Paloschi from going on loan to Reggina, but it looks unlikely that they will be drafting in Schevchenko from Chelsea, although that story just won’t lie down.
It still hurts
By: Penny |It seems that the trouble is a thigh strain in Inzaghi’s left leg. He’s been given a couple of days off to rest it, and so he will no doubt be at home, lying on the settee, watching old episodes of Rosemary and Thyme, because that’s what everyone does when they are off sick. I hope he gets well soon.
