So, back then,
By: Penny | August 31st, 2008and with my optimism reinforced by a maniacally positive interview by Inzaghi in the gazetta (Milan will win the scudetto, the UEFA Cup and the Marathon des Sables, backwards, and the whole dressing room is ecstatic at the return of Sheva) I sat down to enjoy the game against Bologna. (Spoiler in rest of article)
It is a radically different Milan to the one that ended last season, no Oddo, Nesta or Kaka, and a forward line that haven’t played together before. I can’t see much of a natural affinity between Inzaghi and Ronaldinho, the unfailing politeness with which they passed to each other was a little unnerving, and they managed to both go up for the same ball more than once, not a good sign.
Ancelotti was lighting up by the end of the match, fine or no fine, and no one could blame him. Milan used to be invincible at the San Siro, now they are being routinely beaten, and it really hurts. Perhaps the most positive thing this afternoon was the return of Sheva, he looks older and more tired, and it’s going to take him a little time to play himself in, but there were still signs of the way he used to be, before London, and Chelsea and the EPL took its toll.
