Transfer News
By: Penny | July 13th, 2008as it affects our hero. “Bestest friend in football except my brother Simone” Christian Vieri is safely ensconced at Atalanta, despite the howling protests of the fans. Since they are the same ones who kicked their way through a perspex screen in an attempt to get at their players and convince them of the foolishness of playing against Milan last season, perhaps he should see it as a compliment.
Little Inzaghi is currently holed up in a hotel in the Dolomites with the rest of the Lazio team. According to the gazzetta you can’t get a room nearby for love nor money, it being crammed with Lazio fans and skiers, and, possibly, some people who are both. It doesn’t look as if Inzaghino will be staying at Lazio though, Pisa in Serie B have expressed an interest in him, and apparently he has met the chairman at Reggina. Calabria is a long way from home, but they have the advantage that they are in Serie A. Wherever he is next season, I just hope he gets some playing time, and scores a few goals.
Although big brother isn’t moving anywhere, Milan’s transfer aims are centred on their front line. It could be Adebayor, although he still seems to be more expensive than Galliani is prepared to pay, it could be Ronaldinho, or possibly even Sheva. I know some people wouldn’t be happy with Sheva coming back, but really, we are all grown ups, people can make decisions for the best of reasons that still turn out to be a disaster, it’s no argument not to give them another chance. Borriello is getting a little jumpy about warming the bench again, but I think if he gets his chance he should do well.
Every season for the last few years I’ve thought, of course, they’ll use Inzaghi a bit, bring him on for the last twenty minutes or so. Every season he’s proved me wrong, I’m glad to say, he just seems to get better as he gets older. Never mind that he could be Pato’s dad, I didn’t see that young man scoring ten goals in seven matches, well not yet, anyway.
